This year at VMX 2026, between the dates of January 17th and 21st, CUBEX did something we had never done before.
For the first time, we brought live, in-booth conversations directly to the VMX, Veterinary meeting & Expo, conference floor, creating space for open dialogue around one of the most complex and sensitive topics in veterinary medicine: controlled substances.
Rather than traditional presentations or closed-door sessions, we invited attendees into real conversations with former DEA personnel, public safety and regulatory experts, and veterinary leaders who understand hospital operations firsthand.
These were conversations most veterinary teams rarely get access to, and almost never at a booth.
Over two days, the CUBEX booth became more than a demo space. It became a place for learning, listening, and asking the questions that are often left unspoken.
Across January 18 and 19, attendees joined live, featuring breakout discussions focused on real-world accountability, compliance, and operational responsibility. The sessions covered the realities of managing controlled substances in modern veterinary hospitals without fear, judgment, or sales pressure.
What made this experience different was not just the expertise on the floor, but the access.
Each guest speaker spent time in one-on-one conversations with attendees, answering questions freely and offering insight, data, and perspective tailored to real hospital challenges.
We were honored to host four distinguished guests who brought depth, credibility, and lived experience to these discussions:
Each guest brought a unique perspective between regulatory, operational, leadership, and real-world hospital experience, creating a well-rounded and honest dialogue.
What truly set this experience apart was the opportunity for attendees to engage directly with each guest. Veterinary professionals asked questions openly. They shared concerns candidly. They discussed real scenarios without fear of getting something “wrong.”
These were not scripted sessions. They were authentic conversations focused on understanding expectations, reducing risk, and supporting accountability in a way that works for today’s veterinary hospitals, even for higher-intensity emergency and critical care services.
For many attendees, it was the first time they had ever spoken directly with DEA or public safety professionals, alongside veterinary leaders about compliance, responsibility, and best practices.
In addition to the live conversations on the show floor, the CUBEX team spent the week providing in-person system demos and Safe Handling Assessments, giving attendees a hands-on look at how inventory automation works inside real veterinary hospitals.
VMX by NAVC also gave us the opportunity to meet many new faces, reconnect with long-time customers, and enjoy several unexpected drop-ins from our ambassadors, moments that reinforced the strength of the CUBEX community and the relationships behind the technology.
At CUBEX, we believe technology alone is not enough.
Inventory automation must be paired with education, transparency, and trust. By bringing these conversations directly to the show floor, we reinforced our commitment to supporting hospitals not just with systems, but with knowledge and clarity.
The VMX veterinary conference 2026 reminded us that when hospitals are given the right tools and access to the right expertise, they are empowered to operate with confidence.
The conversations that started at VMX don’t end there. They continue in follow-ups, demos, assessments, and ongoing partnerships with veterinary hospitals across the country. If you didn’t get a chance to fit us into your VMX 2026 schedule, reach out to speak with us!
To everyone who joined us at the booth, asked thoughtful questions, and took part in these discussions, thank you. We’re proud to be part of a community willing to engage openly, learn continuously, and raise the standard for controlled substance management in veterinary medicine.
